The Forum is Up and Running

I get a lot of emails and comments from current CRAH students or future Court Reporting students. I get to chat with all these great supportive people, but some of the conversations never make my blog. Or they are in the comments portion and some people miss some great advice and tips. I have decided to add a forum for those folks who want to connect with other students. I love talking to other people who are either ahead of me or just starting out. In this type of school, you need encouragement. Since we cannot interact with Linda on a daily basis, I thought it could serve as a gathering place for help, support and a place to complain when you are having that kind of a day. I find that doing this blog and meeting people is motivating for me to keep going everyday. We will all get discouraged, instead of trying to explain  EBGS vs KP to your husband or sister. You can voice your opinion here. Where we all understand and have been there too.
The forum is up and running. This is my first website, so I am not well versed in this type of thing. I hope everyone finds it helpful. I will be adding to it daily.
My only request for those who may want to post on the forum, is to be nice. This isn't Twitter. Complain all you want, but I do not "do" mean. Thanks.

Cheers to new beginnings

Well, It's been done.
After bouncing all my ideas and scenarios off my hubby and sister, I have decided on the Court Reporting at Home program.
I bought the program and the WAVE writer to the tune of $5650.00
I called (again) and the nice gentleman on the other line (Steven) talked me off the edge.
I over think things sometimes, okay, almost all the time. I am a detail person, what can I say?
So, now instead on nerves, I feel excited to start!

CRAH now offers the PROcat Blaze. (Another $300) The student version of the Impression.
Although it does have a touch screen and tilting tripod, I still went with the Wave. The Wave is the student version of the Diamante. The same machine my sister has. I thought it would be best, since she will be helping me out from time to time.

My machine and materials should be here in the next 2 weeks. I will post more as soon as I open the box. and can thumb through everything.
So far my impression is that this program will work for those who have the five D's

  • DESIRE – You must have a strong, solid desire to become a court reporter.
  • DETERMINATION – You must be a persistent and determined individual who lets nothing stand in your way of accomplishing your goals of becoming a court reporter.
  • DEDICATION – You must be dedicated enough to put forth the time and effort required to accomplish your goals of becoming a court reporter.
  • DISCIPLINE – You must have enough motivation and self discipline to make your career goals a priority.
  • DESERVE – If you possess the above attributes, then you must be a winner; so you deserve the rewards of being a successful court reporter.
I stole that from The Academy of Court Reporting, Mark Kislingbury.
I have read that no matter what theory you learn, learn it frontwards, backwards and inside out.
I do believe that Stenomaster is an excellent theory, but the program was just too expensive and they just do not have a complete program like CRAH. Selfstudycourtreporting.com was sold to this lady, it was not through Mark. Plus, his new books will be coming out shortly, so who knows when this gal will get the new copies. I will probably join his Magnum Steno Club at some point. If I need help with speed building. I do not doubt his talent. His wife informed me that this was for more advanced students, not those fresh out of theory.
